Introduction

This site aims to engage with some of the central themes of political commentary in Germany today. As a year abroad student living in Stuttgart, I see this project as a way of developing my cultural awareness beyond mainstream news channels and journalism. However, the idea of looking at politics not only through the lens of caricature, but also from a different national perspective, is one which I think is both interesting and constructive on a larger scale. The power of the media is immense, and it is easy to let it become a part of daily life without allowing ourselves to consider how its messages might compare to those of other commentators and other countries. I hope that some of the ideas which come up during this project will affirm the possibilities of a critical and international approach to current affairs.
